Pre-appraisal support
The appraisal process can appear complicated and daunting. We can help you prepare for your appraisal by guiding you about how to ensure you meet the requirements for your appraisal and revalidation.
We believe that the appraisal process should not simply revolve around one appraisal meeting, but instead be an ongoing process of support and development, not just to meet GMC requirements, but to help you use the appraisal process to develop your skills, knowledge and competencies, helping you to develop your career opportunities and ambitions and Aspire to Achieve.
Our pre-appraisal support service is designed, therefore, to provide advice prior to your appraisal so that your appraisal portfolio is as strong as possible, making the appraisal process much easier as well as strengthening your revalidation evidence.
The pre-appraisal support will advise you what information you need to include in your portfolio in relation to your previous appraisals and where you are in the revalidation cycle. it will also include, as required, advice on various aspects of your portfolio, including:
- How to demonstrate you are meeting the requirements of Good Medical Practice
- How to produce good quality clinical audits and what constitutes a valid clinical audit
- CPD requirements
- How to provide effective and valid reflections
- What objective evidence you can provide for your portfolio
- Advice on what mandatory training is required
- Advice on governance requirements
